How much Art can one picture Start?
Origins and Future
Here we go - my first attempt at social networking. Or if we get technical about it, my second, but it wasn't called "social networking" then - just a forum for FreeESpirits. It was called "the Treasure Trove", the idea being to hide pleasant little (downloadable) surprises randomly among posts for members to find.
Several hundred lovely people joined, and it had such a nice, uplifting atmosphere (as some of you may remember). But then the spammers took over, and eventually I had to close it down - have you ever tried to remove 30 thousand+ spam posts a week over a dial-up connection?? I just couldn't keep up.
This experience, coupled with a runaway script I downloaded to send out "Your Daily WitBit", made me decide to stay away from such endeavors. The malfunctioning script almost got my site shut down!
A while ago, however, I was sorting through old backups and discovered a few pages I'd saved from the Treasure Trove. That made me so nostalgic that I decided to confront the scripting mountain and give it another go. Luckily research results revealed what an abundance of networks there are nowadays, making it ever so easy to interact with friends on a global scale. And the widgets make me jump for joy - they are perfect for spreading art, fun and sunshine (my soul purpose in a nutshell).
Don't you just LOVE the Internet? It's the best thing that could happen to this planet - with such open and wide-spread communication we can achieve anything.
But I digress. The wonders of the Internet is a separate topic. This introduction is meant to summarize briefly where we come from, where we are, and in which direction we're aiming. You already know that Art and Creativity are our main focus points, I assume. But it's also about the influence that we, as "creative types", have on the world around us. A collective imagining of all the wonderful things we can do to make life as enjoyable as possible for everyone.
If you have similar ideals, please join the club and contribute your brilliant ideas. Instead of continuing to hoard my thousands of short notes until that elusive day when I'll "have time to complete it" (haha), I'm going to be scattering lots of incomplete concepts (ThoughtStarters) throughout the blog and the forum. Your comments on relevant topics are welcome.
I'm sure that we can gather enough like-minded souls together to create something worthwhile from it. Will you help me to achieve this, please? Though I cannot promise compensation at this point, know that I am generous by nature. When there is profit to share, I'd be glad to have reason to do so. And in the meanwhile, we'll have loads of fun, won't we?
